The Town of Wake Forest Urban Forestry Advisory Board

From 2023 until the Board’s dissolution in 2025, Abby was a member and co-Chair of the UFB. Its purpose was to encourage proper tree plantings, tie landscaping and trees to quality of life, and research, promote, and endorse educational programs and beautification initiatives for urban forests.

Abby regularly monitors the activities of the local, state, and federal governments. She gives updates on their proceedings and legislative progress on the radio, in person at her church, and online.

Op-Ed: “Desecrated Middle Ground”

While a Fellow with the Heartland Institute, Abby wrote an op-ed reviewing the actions taken by North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, an analysis of how well he upholds his campaign promises, and an overview of the growing chasm between Republican and Democrat ideals.

Op-Ed: “No Kings”

Abby composed an analysis of the objective and purpose of No Kings, highlights Americans who could qualify as untouchable royalty, and presents a distillation of the logic behind the movement.

Radio: “LIFTing North Carolina”

Abby was invited to join internet station Blue Ridge Liberty Radio. Abby’s segment, “LIFTing North Carolina,” inspires listeners with Patriot Academy founder Rick Green’s LIFT Principles: Limited Government, Individual Liberty, Free enterprise, and timeless Truths.

“LIFTing North Carolina” airs Monday-Friday at approximately 8:50 AM, 12:50 PM, and 5:50 PM, and Saturday at approximately 8:50 AM, with a new episode every Wednesday.

Op-Ed: “Restoring State Sovereignty over Federal Lands”

While Abby was a Fellow at the Heartland Institute, she wrote a policy tip sheet recommending the return of federally owned lands back to the management of states.

This op-ed was distributed to legislators nationwide.

From time to time, as the North Carolina General Assembly passes legislation, Abby will give updates on new and upcoming laws.

Additionally, every election season, Abby will provide non-partisan candidate information sheets so congregants will be informed voters.

When legislation is being considered at the state and federal levels, Abby distributes comprehensive info sheets and form letters for the interested and involved when they contact their elected officials.
