Streamline Urban Mobility
The general consensus between long-term residents is that traffic is terrible. There are numerous intersections the Wake Forest Police Department has marked dangerous. Depending on the time of day, commuting even short distances can take upwards of an hour.
Abby’s Solution:
More roundabouts and work with State and Federal DOT for traffic light syncing. By keeping traffic moving, less idling cars reduce the amount of exhaust fumes and allow for more expedient commutes that save everyone’s time so you can focus on what’s important.

Affordability
Abby’s generation became adults and unhappily discovered that the American Dream is dying. How are we supposed to afford homes when a small house is hundreds of thousands of dollars, cars cost more than people can earn in a year, and taxes are through the roof?
Abby’s Solutions:
1. If more of the Town Budget is allocated to Departments, Town taxes will not be as necessary and will lower. A comprehensive listing of fees and taxes Wake Forest residents pay can be found here.
2. While Bond referendums offer amenities to residents, they also increase our tax burden — Free amenities are never free. Bond referendums that cross Abby’s desk for approval she will fairly assess for actual and legitimate needs. For more information on bond referendums, go to the Town of Wake Forest’s website here.
3. In 2025, the Town of Wake Forest held Open Houses regarding proposed improvements to Capital Boulevard/US-1. Wake Forest residents made it clear that we do not want a tollway. Abby will never approve a toll on Capital Boulevard/US-1.
4: Abby will not approve parking meters in Downtown Wake Forest.

Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management
As an Account Manager, Abby is very familiar with fiscal allocation and budget management. She will bring these skills to the Town to ensure Wake Forest continues to spend taxpayers dollars responsibly and with transparency.

One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

Preserve Wake Forest’s Small-Town Feel
It seems that every which way we turn, there’s another towering apartment complex. Combined with the increased traffic from new developments, many residents feel that Wake Forest is fuller by the year.
Abby’s Solutions:
1. Advocate for more resident feedback when re-zonings are proposed and factor in residents’ feedback to approve or deny re-zonings.
2. Push for two updates to the Current UDO
a: Amend Section 2.2.3.C.1 so that there may be no more than 7 detached units per acre, from the current 10 units per acre.
b: Amend Section 2.2.3.G.2 so that Residential, Neighborhood, and Urban Mixed-Uses are capped at 4 stories or less, from the current 6 stories.

Champion Wake Forest’s Forests
Wake Forest’s growth is not necessarily a bad thing, but it should not come at the cost of our beautiful namesake woodlands. Developments have turned Joyner Park’s river waters crystal clear to clay, filled creeks and streams with erosion, decimated CO 2-removing trees, and displaced an untold number of animals from their natural habitats.
Abby’s Solution:
Push for two updates to the Current UDO
1. Amend Section 12.6.D regarding watershed zoning WS-IV from 70% maximum High Density Development Option with municipal utilities to 50% maximum.
2. Amend Section 8.5.2.A.1 so that SF Detached Residential, Duplex Proposed/Existing have a Type C buffer, an increase from Type X/zero buffer.

Support our First Responders
Two of the events Abby attended during the 2022 Citizens Academy were focused on our firefighters and police. She received a detailed rundown of how these departments operate, the tools they use to keep residents safe, and the various policies they operate under. Abby has an undying appreciation for those who serve the community in such a substantial way.

Keep Wake Forest Family-Friendly
Abby will stand for and defend all Wake Forest residents’ Constitutional rights. Moreover, she’s noticed a distinct push for public intoxication and young children’s exposure to age-inappropriateness.
Abby’s Solutions:
1. Amend the Wake Forest Social District Ordinance to change:
a: From Thursday – Saturday to Friday – Saturday
b: From 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM to 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
2. Amend the Wake Forest UDO to include a Public Decency section that aligns with NC General Statute Chapter 14 Article 26 § 14-190.1, § 14-190.9, § 14-190.14, and § 14-190.15.
