Feedback from Wake Forest Residents

“A vast majority are saying “No” to tolls. Please listen to us!”
“Where would toll booths be?!”
“No to all tolls.”
“I would rather put up with traffic delays than pay tolls.”
“Any new growth impose impact fees to offset costs to taxpayers.”
“No tolls! Make NCDOT and the state fund it!”
“Option 3 Express Lane + Free Lanes is acceptable. (2036 date.)”
“#4 Hold contractor to date. They get pain less if date is extended.”
“The people who use Capital Blvd should not be penalized (by the implementation of tolls) because the DOT delayed the road work for years.”
“No to the no to the no to tolls. Keep it as is.”

“The plan 4 divergent diamond interchange is better opt.”
“US1 tolls will just divert traffic to US40 and create even more of a headache there. US40 is already stressed. What then? Tolls on US40? Think this through.”
“Has any thought been given to the disproportional costs to lower income residents who typically live further away from employers and commute longer?”
“DDIs not tolls!”
“Where does toll money go? Another tax.”
“What about tolls for all the through traffic but an exemption for local residents and commuters? Special decal/box if you live here?”
“Livid livid livid at this toll proposal!”

“It will create unemployment due to loss of business to ‘imminent domain!'”
“Agreed! No tolls at all!”
“No one needs to drive 70MPH. The key is simpley to keep traffic moving. Toll roads are not required or needed!”
“Capital Blvd should not be an interstate. Too many property owners lose land and buildings by enforcing imminent domain. Too expensive – Billions of $. Too long to build. Most of us will be dead before it’s finished.”
“No tolls (both roads). Dedicated turning lanes (401 and Falls of Neuse). Much faster construction. Benefiting businesses will help pay for roads.”

“Keep costs as low as possible.”
“Stop robbing the citizens!”
“Express lanes only!”
“Wake Forest property values will drop. Secondary road traffic will increase.”
“Increase car registration tax. Do not have a toll road that will just hurt Wake Forest businesses.”
“I will never use.”
“Making a toll road will disrupt traffic for years!”
“Please let the people vote on this.”
“No tolls. Use the NCDOT current ALTs.”
“No tolls. Property values will go down.”
“Noise mitigation plan is a big concern. Increase to secondary road traffic is major. We need to slow growth. Property values will go down.”
“Very supportive of toll road.”

“Will never use toll roads!”
“Why bother driving on a tolled US-1 when we can detour to US401, Falls, etc? Cheaper to drive a bit longer than pay $3.00 a direction.”
“Put the tolls on I-95 and I-85.”
“NO TOLL.”
“This is a tax on people driving from Wake Forest to Raleigh. No tolls. It will ruin the other roads IA, 401, Falls, Forestville and Burlington Mills.”
“I don’t want to live in Cary!”
“You are hurting businesses and people.”
“Survey is so biased to not have a NO TOLL option.”
“No toll, we pay enough.”
“Create a tax on all new builds to fund this only.”

“DOT is run by politicians not engineers. Control your governor and elected officials.”
“DOT has more than enough funding to pay for Capital Blvd improvements. DOT does not have to worry about funding because they get a 3¢ per gallon tax. It is simply a matter of priorities, and Capital Blvd improvements should be the highest priority of any road in NC! The projected traffic volume of 45K to 75K vehicles per day can easily be handled by the combination of design features for Falls of Neuse Road and 401 North and both of those are virtually finished in just a few years.”
“Tolls are just another tax. We already pay gasoline taxes, 1/2¢ of sales tax, highway use tax.”
“No more taxes without representation!”
