Safeguarding Children
Children trust the adults in their lives to protect and take care of them. This includes protecting children from adults that would take advantage of a child’s innocence, loneliness, naivety, and prey upon a child’s desire to be included and accepted.
Parents take priority regarding decisions about their children, but it is also the responsibility of elected officials to help facilitate the creation of safe environments for children.
Abby’s Solution:
Update the UDO with a Public Decency section that aligns with NC General Statutes Chapter 14 Article 26 § 14-190.13-15, regarding the display and dissemination of harmful materials to minors.
